x650 issues (no signal; Enable RTC)

  • The x650 is prefect for my needs but having issues with.

    First, I cannot get this to thing to work with any video at all. I have tried just about everything but use a custom EDID. Running dmesg | egrep 'tc35|1-1.4|uvc' & systemctl status kvmd-tc358743 shows no errors. I'm at loss what to do or use for a custom EDID for a 1280x1024 desktop resolution. The cable is good as it checks out for displaying the pi output to a HDMI monitor.

    Second, enable RTC from the guide does not work when using the hwclock command. It just gives the following error "hwclock: Cannot access the Hardware Clock via any known method". I did modify the config.txt like it said to do. Not sure if RTC is related to the above video issue or not.

    Any ideas?

    I'm hoping to get this to work with ease as I'm trying to see if this would be an option for some servers that don't have something like an iDRAC or iLO (IPMI etc..) for remote management.

    Hardware:
    Vis Viva Raspberry Pi Compute Module 4 (CM4108016) (16GB eMMC);
    Geekworm X650 Open Source KVM Over IP Kit PCIe Version for Raspberry Pi Compute Module 4

    1. Since X650 V1.5, we have used the same pcf8563 RTC chip with PiKVM official hardware, so you don't need to do anything, the RTC will work fine. I don't know where you purchased our product from, so I don't know which version you are using.
    2. I see that you are using a CM4 with EMMC, so I suspect that there is something wrong with your OS flashing. Please follow this tutorial to flash PiKVM OS v3 into the EMMC of CM4. (We have just updated this tutorial)
    3. Please provide more detail pictures if you have any problems

  • It was purchased via Amazon (Link to item). I don't think its a flash issue and I have tried a couple of different V3 images that all do the same, no signal. I'll try another full download/flash and report back but I'm think something is wrong hardware wise.

    Where is the version number on the x650 board?

  • So reflashed and flashed an older version. Both do not work and keep getting no signal. HDMI checks fine with a monitor so I have now idea whats going on other than a possible hardware issue with the x650.

  • Scratch all of that. After testing yet again, it looks like the HDMI port on the video card has gone out and was going out, JOY!!! I plugged in my retro scaler and it gave me a signal on the x650. Plugged a monitor (again) to the video card and nothing. So I guess I'm looking for a new video card now.

  • Ok final update. I guess the HDMI on my card is the only thing wrong (at the moment). For anyone who wants to know, its a "Zotac Gaming GeForce GTX 1660 OC". I had an extra DP to HDMI and its currently working. Thanks for the help.

    Now to test this thing out for possible server use for work.

  • We do not recommend using VGA to HDMI or DP to HDMI wire to provide HDMI signals to the X650, especially VGA to HDMI wire, which will result in no signal.
