Overview
The UPS_Scap_5V5A is a professional-grade, supercapacitor-based Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) module designed specifically for the Raspberry Pi 5. Engineered to handle high-demand workloads, it supports a wide 12V PD input and 9-24V DC input, and delivers a powerful output of up to 5V/5A shared across USB-C and USB-A interfaces. Crucially, the USB-C port fully supports the proprietary 5V/5A PD protocol required to prevent under-voltage throttling on the Raspberry Pi 5.
Equipped with a massive 100F high-capacity supercapacitor bank, this module provides reliable, ultra-fast backup power to bridge momentary power drops or allow a clean, automated system shutdown during extended outages. Designed for maximum flexibility, it can be mounted directly on the bottom of your Raspberry Pi 5 and powered via header pins or the included sleek USB-C adapter board. Featuring onboard I2C voltage and current telemetry via the INA219 chip, it gives you complete software control over your system's power status.
Whether you are running home servers, industrial IoT gateways, or remote headless setups, the UPS_Scap_5V5A ensures your Raspberry Pi 5 operates with maximum uptime, hardware safety, and data integrity.
Important: This module uses advanced supercapacitors, which offer over 500,000 charge cycles and wide temperature operation with zero risk of the thermal runaway, fire, or leakage associated with traditional lithium batteries.
Key Features
🔌 Raspberry Pi 5 Exclusive PD Compatibility
- True 5V/5A Output: Built-in PD handshake chip matches the proprietary Raspberry Pi 5 power protocol to completely eliminate under-voltage warning popups.
- Dual Output Interfaces: Equipped with both USB-C and USB-A ports (sharing 5V/5A total output) for versatile device connection options.

🛠️ Control & Storage Management
- Integrated Power Switch & Indicator: Includes a hardware-level main power switch to completely cut off output, and a 5-level LED indicator for quick visual checks of the capacitor capacity.
- Discharge Button: Features a dedicated bleed button to safely and rapidly discharge the supercapacitors prior to storage, maintenance, or transport.
Power Requirements & Safety Guide
⚠️ IMPORTANT POWER SAFETY WARNINGS:
- Single Source Only: Only ONE power input source must be connected at any time (do not use the DC Jack and USB-C PD input simultaneously).
- Strict Input Specs: When using the DC jack, ensure the input is 9V to 24V DC. When using the USB-C input, please make sure to use a PD/QC compatible charger of 30W or higher.
- Short-Circuit Danger: Never short-circuit the supercapacitor terminals. The extremely low internal resistance can trigger instant, massive current discharges, damaging the board and voiding your warranty.
