Modify PiKVM for Raspberry pi 5 (with KVM-A8)

  • I have a KVM-A8. I have successfully modified the hardware so it runs on rpi 5 (replaced the CSI cable with a rpi5 camera cable, as the HDMI capture card emulates a camera) AND (replaced the fan with the 3pin pi5 fan).

That the supply pins for PoE is in a different location doesn't matter, it just means PoE cannot be used.

However, the kvmd don't run. It complains of not finding UDC. Any ideas how to fix?

You might wonder why I use pi5:
Pi4 is out of sales all over my location. Can't get a Pi4 as its end of sale for some reason. Only offered is Pi5.

So im interested in modifying the config of PiKVM so it runs on Pi5.

  • Regarding the UDC error, it might be that the Pi 5 requires different driver initialization or kernel modules for the USB Device Controller compared to the Pi 4. Have you tried checking the PiKVM documentation or GitHub for Pi 5 compatibility changes? They might have specific instructions or a beta build. @slope game 2
