Overview
This USB-C PD Adapter Dongle is designed specifically for the Raspberry Pi 5 to resolve two common frustrations when powering your board via PoE or GPIO / pogo pins: the recurring power warning pop-up at system startup, and the restricted 600mA USB current limit that stops SSDs, hard drives, and high-power peripherals from working properly.
By simply plugging this ultra-compact adapter into the Raspberry Pi 5’s USB-C power port, it emulates a 5V/5A Power Delivery (PD) handshake. This tricks the Pi 5 into enabling full-speed operation and relaxing the USB port current limit from 600mA to 1.6A.
Featuring a reversible USB-C connector, a tiny 10×10mm form factor, premium immersion gold finish, and lead-free manufacturing, it is the ultimate plug-and-play solution for non-Type-C powered Raspberry Pi 5 setups.
⚠️ IMPORTANT NOTE: This adapter only handles PD handshake negotiation. It does NOT supply power, nor does it boost your power supply’s output voltage or current. It occupies the USB-C power port and is designed exclusively for PoE or GPIO/pogo pin powered setups.
Key Features
⚡ Full Power Performance & Warning Elimination
- Eliminates Power Warnings: Permanently removes the persistent power supply warning pop-up window during system startup.
- Unlocks Full USB Current: Increases the total USB current limit from 600mA to 1.6A, ensuring reliable operation for SSDs and USB accessories.
- Emulates 5V/5A PD Negotiation: Fools the Raspberry Pi 5 into recognizing a full 5V/5A PD power supply for full-speed operation.
🧩 Compact & Durable Design
- Ultra-Compact Footprint: Micro form factor measuring just 10×10mm, causing zero interference with cases or adjacent accessories.
- Reversible USB-C Plug: Plug-and-play design supporting blind insertion from either direction.
- Premium Build Quality: Built with high-grade immersion gold PCB finish and environmentally friendly lead-free manufacturing processes.
🎯 Ideal Application Scenarios
- PoE Powered Setups: Perfect for Raspberry Pi 5 boards powered via Power over Ethernet (PoE) HATs.
- GPIO / Pogo Pin Powering: Essential for custom enclosures, cluster setups, or carrier boards powering the Pi 5 via GPIO expansion headers.
Power & Status Indicator Troubleshooting
ℹ️ UNDERSTANDING STATUS ICONS:
- Pop-up Power Warning: Occurs due to missing PD handshake when powering via GPIO/PoE. Plugging in this adapter resolves it instantly.
- Lightning Bolt Icon: If a lightning bolt icon appears in the system status bar, this represents an under-voltage warning caused by insufficient power supply voltage (below 5.1V), not a PD handshake issue.
- Fixing Voltage Warning: To remove the lightning bolt icon, ensure your main power supply delivers a solid 5.1V to the Raspberry Pi 5.
