Overview
The Power Supply Expansion Board (YB-MPP01-V1.0) is a purpose-built, high-efficiency voltage regulation expansion board designed specifically for the Raspberry Pi 5. Integrating multiple input/output options and advanced power management, it converts wide DC input into a rock-solid, fully compliant 5V/5A power output tailored to the Raspberry Pi 5’s exact power specifications.
Say goodbye to low-voltage warnings and restricted peripheral performance. By supporting the Raspberry Pi 5 exclusive PD protocol, this board unlocks the full 1.6A USB port current capacity, allowing you to run high-power USB devices, drives, and accessories without hassle. Its compact, stackable design with standard M2.5 mounting holes makes it perfectly suited for mobile platforms like smart cars, wheeled/quadruped robots, robotic arms, and IoT edge projects.
Note: The Type-C output port is dedicated to power delivery only and does not support USB data transmission.
Key Features
⚡ Raspberry Pi 5 PD Protocol Compliance
- Official Spec Match: Fully complies with the Raspberry Pi 5 official 5V/5A power requirement.
- Maximized USB Output: Completely eliminates low-voltage warnings and unlocks full 1.6A current across USB interfaces (compared to the 0.6A limit with non-PD supplies).
🔋 6–24V Wide Input Voltage Range
- Versatile Compatibility: Accepts power from DC adapters, lithium battery packs, vehicle power supplies, or robot bus power.
- Automatic Current Adjustment: Delivers 5V/3A with a 6V input, and 5V/5A with a 7–24V input.
- Linear Compensation: Maintains precise voltage output even under fluctuating input source conditions.
🔌 Rich & Versatile Interfaces
- Type-C Output Port: Dedicated power supply output for Raspberry Pi 5 (cable-free setup with included bridge adapter).
- 2× PH2.0-2Pin Connectors: Easy power breakout for sensors and low-power peripherals.
- DC 5.5×2.1mm Barrel Jack: Ideal for powering Jetson Nano and other DC-powered devices.
- 2× 6Pin Bent Pin Headers: Simple connection for Arduino, STM32, ESP32, and custom MCU development boards.
🛠️ Stackable DIY Design & Wide Ecosystem
- Flexible Mounting: Can be stacked directly on top or underneath the Raspberry Pi 5 board.
- Dual Type-C Bridge Included: Features a custom dual Type-C bridge for a clean, cable-free power connection.
- Multi-Board Compatibility: Works seamlessly with Raspberry Pi 5, Pi 4B, Jetson Nano B01, STM32, ESP32, K210, and RDK series boards or other 5V DC powered single-board computers
- Ideal Applications: Perfectly tailored for wheeled, quadruped, or tracked robots, robotic arms, IoT edge computing nodes, and custom embedded systems.
🛡️ Multi-Layer Circuit Safety
- Comprehensive Circuit Protection: Built-in input reverse polarity protection, output over-current protection, current limiting, over-voltage protection, and over-temperature protection.
Power & Safety Usage Guide
⚠️ IMPORTANT POWER & HANDLING WARNINGS:
- Single Power Input: Never connect multiple power sources to the input interfaces simultaneously.
- Pi 5 Input Requirement: To achieve the full 5V/5A performance required for Raspberry Pi 5, input voltage MUST be between 7V and 24V. (A 6V input provides only 5V/3A).
- No Input to Output Ports: Do NOT feed external voltage/power directly into any output interfaces. Maximum allowed input is 24V DC.
- Do NOT Measure Type-C Output with a Multimeter: The Type-C port relies on active PD handshake negotiation. Probing directly with a multimeter will fail to read voltage and risks short-circuiting and damaging the board!
- PD-Compatible Cable Required: If using a Type-C cable instead of the bridge adapter, ensure the cable is PD-compliant to trigger power negotiation.
- Non-Conductive Operation: Always operate the board on an insulated, non-conductive surface to prevent accidental short circuits from contact with metal.
