Overview
The ESP32-S3 Industrial Control Board is an industrial-oriented mainboard purpose-built for AIoT, industrial automation, and fieldbus application scenarios. Powered by the high-performance ESP32-S3 chip, it integrates fully isolated RS485 and CAN interfaces, dual-mode 2.4GHz Wi-Fi + Bluetooth 5 (LE) connectivity, and multi-layer circuit protection.
Housed in a standard DIN rail-mount enclosure and supporting a 7–36V wide-voltage power input, it delivers a stable, robust, and plug-and-play solution for Modbus networking, CAN device control, remote sensor monitoring, and edge IoT deployments.
Key Features
🚀 High-Performance ESP32-S3 Platform
- Dual-Core Processing: Powered by the Xtensa 32-bit LX7 dual-core processor running at up to 240MHz, equipped with 16MB Flash.
- Onboard RTC: Features a PCF85063 real-time clock chip for precise scheduled tasks (requires an external backup battery for power-off time retention).
- Dual-Mode Wireless: Supports 2.4GHz Wi-Fi (802.11b/g/n) and Bluetooth 5 (LE). Includes an onboard ceramic antenna plus a reserved IPEX 1 connector (antenna selection via resistor configuration).
🌐 Industrial Isolated Bus Interfaces
- Isolated RS485 Port: Screw terminal connection featuring hardware automatic flow control, TVS surge protection, and ESD protection. Includes an onboard 120Ω terminal resistor (NC by default, enabled via jumper).
- Isolated CAN Port: Screw terminal connection featuring hardware automatic direction control, TVS surge protection, and ESD protection. Includes an onboard 120Ω terminal resistor (NC by default, enabled via jumper).
- Dual Isolation Guard: Combines digital and power isolation to effectively block signal interference and protect the core MCU.
⚡ Industrial Power & Mechanical Design
- Flexible Dual Power Options: Powered via USB Type-C (5V DC) or screw terminal input (7–36V DC wide voltage) for easy integration into industrial control systems.
- DIN Rail-Mount Case: Standard DIN rail ABS housing allows quick, tool-free installation into standard electrical cabinets. Compact footprint: 91.6 × 23.3 × 58.7 mm.
- Real-Time LED Status: Features clear diagnostic LEDs for PWR (Red), RS485 TX (Green), RS485 RX (Blue), and CAN (Blinking during transmission) for effortless field debugging.
🛠️ Developer-Friendly Ecosystem
- Broad Framework Support: Officially supports Arduino IDE, fully compatible with ESP-IDF, MicroPython, and other mainstream ESP32-S3 platforms.
- Rich Expansion Capabilities: Onboard 2.54mm GPIO header and SH1.0 4-pin expansion port for custom sensors and peripherals.
- Convenient Programming: Onboard BOOT and RESET buttons for easy firmware flashing and debugging.
Important Operating & Safety Notes
⚠️ IMPORTANT OPERATING & WIRING WARNINGS:
- Terminal Voltage Limit: The 7–36V DC wide-voltage rating applies strictly to the screw terminal input. The USB Type-C port supports 5V DC ONLY. Applying high voltage to the Type-C port will cause permanent damage!
- Terminal Resistors: Onboard 120Ω terminal resistors for RS485 and CAN are disconnected by default. Enable them via jumpers only when end-of-line bus matching is required.
- Professional Integration: This module is intended for industrial integration and electronics development. Professional technical knowledge is required for wiring, bus parameter setup, and debugging.
- Bus Wiring Safety: Improper CAN bus wiring or configuration may cause communication errors or equipment damage. Always follow standard fieldbus installation guidelines.
