Overview
The CM5-Tiny Carrier Board + CNC Aluminum Case Kit is a purpose-built, ultra-compact mini carrier board designed exclusively for the Raspberry Pi Compute Module 5 (CM5). This premium kit bundles the high-performance Rev1.4 mainboard with a matching precision-engineered CNC aluminum alloy case, perfectly balancing rich hardware expandability with an incredibly small footprint.
Despite its mini size, it breaks out all the core interfaces of the CM5. The dedicated USB 2.0 OTG port supports both effortless system flashing and a virtual Ethernet adapter mode (ideal for OpenWrt setups). For ultimate expandability, the onboard 16-Pin PCIe slot allows you to connect NVMe SSDs, WiFi 7 modules, 2.5G network cards, Coral TPUs, and more.
Whether you are building a smart network gateway, a compact 4G router, an AI vision system, or an industrial edge computing node, the included rugged metal case ensures optimal passive cooling and maximum durability for both rapid prototype development and field deployment.
Note: The CNC Aluminum Enclosure is specifically designed for bare-board assembly. Third-party PCIe expansion modules cannot be installed inside the enclosed case.
Key Features
🚀 Ultra-Compact & Versatile I/O
- Mini Form Factor: Micro-sized at just 53.5×55mm—ideal for embedded systems, IoT, and space-constrained environments.
- Full-Featured Ports: Equipped with a 4K Micro HDMI port, USB 3.0 Type-C, and a CSI/DSI combo FPC interface for camera or display modules.
- High-Speed Expansion: Features a 0.5mm-16Pin PCIe slot to expand system capabilities with SSDs, cellular cards, or accelerators.
🛠️ Tool-Free Flashing & Flexible Boot
- Driver-Free eMMC Programming: Onboard physical BOOT button lets you program eMMC or TF cards directly via the USB OTG port without jumper wires or external card readers.
- Multiple Boot Storage: Supports booting from onboard eMMC (built-in CM5), MicroSD/TF cards (for non-eMMC CM5 variants), or NVMe SSDs via the PCIe slot.
- MicroSD Card Slot: Onboard slot to support Raspberry Pi CM5 Lite variants (without onboard eMMC).
🛡️ Premium CNC Enclosure & Cooling
- Heavy-Duty Protection: Precision CNC-machined aluminum alloy construction delivers an exquisite aesthetic and rugged armor.
- Efficient Passive Dissipation: The case acts as a massive heatsink, ensuring stable, long-term CPU operation under heavy workloads.
- Antenna Ready: Includes reserved external antenna cutouts (Note: Since the metal case blocks internal WiFi signals, an external antenna is required for wireless functions).
🌐 Multi-System & DIY Friendly
- Rich Headers: Features a 20Pin GPIO, a 1.25mm 2-pin RTC battery header, and a 1.0mm 4-pin PWM fan header for advanced cooling setups.
- OS Compatibility: Thoroughly tested and fully compatible with Raspberry Pi OS, Ubuntu, and OpenWrt (great for virtual NIC/gateway modes).
Power Requirements & Usage Guide
⚠️ IMPORTANT OPERATION & POWER WARNINGS:
- Power Input: Requires a strict 5V ⎓ 3A USB-C power source.
- Dual-Port Power Support: Power can be supplied through either the USB 3.0 Type-C port OR the USB 2.0 OTG Type-C port.
- Wireless Signal Note: The solid metal aluminum enclosure blocks internal WiFi signals. If wireless functionality is needed, an external antenna must be connected via the case's reserved antenna slots.
